It is currently expected that UIs will figure out when to hide msg_history_show messages by themselves.

I think this is bad for two reasons:

• It makes UIs less similar, increasing the number of things to learn when going from one UI to another.
• It makes UIs different from the TUI, which offers a press ENTER prompt when the time to hide msg_history_show messages has come.

Found this old issue #412 that mentioned displaying large JSON data, linked to this commit c4933badba54fb149923d43c8e927c305d4dcce3 limiting displaying data larger than 5MB i.e. when you see this message: "Response over 5MB hidden for performance reasons".

However, for performance testing, I'd like to lower this threshold?

Is it possible?

I would like it to be, but some of our CI scripts use lerna exec tsc. Perhaps we can open a separate PR to update the scripts/npm commands to compile instead of tsc?
